5 Okanagan Falls restaurants worth a visit

In case you hadn’t fully realized it yet, Okanagan Falls is small. Like, really small. To set the scene there is no Tim Hortons and no A&W (in fact, no fast food at all). There was even a time when the primary grocery store stood empty for over a year and locals had to drive 20+ minutes into Penticton or Oliver for groceries.

That being said, there are a handful of wonderful local restaurants worth checking out in Okanagan Falls. Without any chains what you get is a slightly more off the cuff restaurant experience. Family run, small-town food joints. I’m not saying they are better per se but they are certainly some gems worth eating at in Okanagan Falls. Read on to learn more.

Falls Restaurant in Okanagan Falls

Falls Restaurant [Closed as of January 2024]

Bad news friends! Falls Restaurant has closed as of January 2024. We wish them all the best!

Believe it or not Okanagan Falls has the best Chinese takeout I’ve ever had. Falls Restaurant is a wonderful, family-run Chinese restaurant. It’s consistently fresh, never greasy, and orders are ready in just 20 minutes. The value here is outstanding, with reasonable prices and huge portions. This unassuming restaurant, in a rather unassuming location is a hidden gem for both locals and visitors to Okanagan Falls.

While they do offer a ‘western’ menu, my recommendation is to stick to the Chinese side – that’s where they truly shine.

Kettle Valley Pizza and Donair

Kettle Valley Pizza and Donair

Location: 924 Hwy 97, Okanagan Falls
Hours: Open Wednesday to Sunday from 3-9

I can’t exactly say I recommend Kettle Valley Pizza and Donair for the pizza. Especially when your Okanagan Falls pizza options includes Bullies Pizza (more on that later). But this Okanagan Falls restaurant does shine in a few other areas: the donairs, the smoothies and the option to get delivery. Because there is no Uber Eats or Skip the Dishes in Okanagan Falls, this is basically your only option for delivery. The menu is also incredibly varied with a little something for everyone from wraps and poutine to pasta and salads.

OK Falls Hotel Bar and Grill

OK Falls Hotel Bar + Grill

Location: 1045 Main St, Okanagan Falls
Hours: Open Wednesday-Saturday from 11:30am-9pm; Open Sunday-Tuesday from 11:30am-8pm

The “OK Falls Hotel,” despite its name, is not a hotel but a grill and pub situated within the historic OK Falls hotel building. This is one of the town’s original structures dating back to 1950. Its interior is bright and clean, offering both indoor seating and dog-friendly patio seating. The menu features classic grill and pub fare like wings, fish and chips, and burgers, alongside alternative options such as a vegan falafel wrap or seafood lettuce wraps. In addition to a collection of cocktails and local beers on tap, they also serve wine from Hester Creek in Oliver. Plus there are some fun entertainment options on the pub side (so only for those 19+) with table hockey, foosball, darts, and pinball machines.

Bullies Pizza in Okanagan Falls is a small, family-run restaurant with a super friendly owner. Their pizza is known for being super thick, cheesy, and delicious, loaded with plenty of toppings. KJ Coffee Bar

KJ Coffee Bar

Location: 5121 9th Ave, Okanagan Falls
Hours: Open Tuesday to Friday from 8am-2pm; Open Saturday from 9am-2pm

A hidden spot worth checking out! This family-operated café and coffee shop, located in Okanagan Falls right on Main 97 highway, may not have extensive operating hours, but it’s definitely worth a visit.

Their coffee is of top-notch quality, and they also offer a selection of local eats, including homemade bread, baking, sandwiches, and more. The Morning wrap, date square, and oat milk latte are standouts. It’s evident that the team here takes their coffee and food seriously.

Keep in mind that there’s no indoor seating, but if you’re in the area, this café is a solid choice.

Does a shop that sells exclusively ice cream and fudge count as a restaurant? Why not! Tickleberry’s has put Okanagan Falls on the map so it certainly has earned a spot in this list. Bonus: Falls Market

Ok so this isn’t a restaurant. Not at all. But it has hot, prepared food available for purchase. And sometimes that’s all you need. Grab some fried chicken, wedges and a bottle of wine and you’re set for a picnic at the beach.
